Soup's On x Restorative Practices at Penn

What:

Over the past few weeks, I’ve talked to a number of residents about incarceration, community harm, and the concepts of restorative justice and restorative practices. There’s a lot to learn about and unpack together - please join for a meal and conversation with Pablo Cerdera, Associate Director of Restorative Practices at Penn for a casual conversation on these topics and more. Together, we’ll investigate the purpose of our “justice” system, how dominant approaches do or do not achieve those goals, and what we might do differently to make a more just and safer society, and share tips on courses and other opportunities that might be of interest if you’d like to dive in more!

Note: All Harnwellians are welcome! If restorative justice is something you already know a lot about, or this is your first time hearing about it, you are welcome to join.

Pablo Cerdera is a Restorative Justice (RJ) Practitioner and Educator and has been the Associate Director of Restorative Practices at Penn since February 2020. He began his professional work at the Legal Rights Center in Minneapolis, and has volunteered or worked as a RJ practitioner and program designer with Restorative Justice Community Action, the Conflict Resolution Center, the Good Shepherd Mediation Program, and Let’s Circle Up.
