Mural Painting Project

What:

Join us in working on a mural painting project on the 8th floor of Harnwell that we began last Spring. Our goal is to complete the mural this semester. Your work and name will become part of this project. Both residents and staff have worked together on this project. The composition of the mural is a collage that combines images of the skyline of West Philadelphia, Malcolm X Park, the John Coltrane House,  Henry C. Lea High School, and the historic home of the artist Dox Thrash. We invite you to learn about these significant Philadelphia landmarks and histories and bring them to life in this mural. This painting project aims to provide an opportunity for Harnwell residents to work collaboratively to visualize and celebrate their experience of the environment of Philadelphia alongside the space they inhabit within this city. The project is cognizant of differing levels of comfort, expertise, and time availability among residents. Residents will be provided guidance, materials, and the opportunity to sign up and contribute to this semester-long collaboration. The production of this mural will follow all health and safety protocols. If you are interested and would like to sign up or have any questions, contact Harnwell Faculty Fellow Ivanco Talevski ivancot@upenn.edu
