Movie Night in the RTL: Mao's Last Dancer

What:

Please join us on the rooftop lounge for an awesome movie, and if you'd like, stay after for a few minutes for discussion. Snacks will be provided!

'Mao's Last Dancer' (2010) is a stunning film based on the real-life story of a Chinese ballet dancer who defects to the United States. The story takes place during cultural suppression in China. SFGate described the movie as "a graceful film about a graceful young man practicing a graceful art form." We wanted to give an opportunity to watch something great, but also something that would be an alternative to Disney's new live-action 'Mulan.'

A big thanks to Harnwell resident Leann for proposing the movie and helping to plan and facilitate the event! Do you have other ideas for other events we can put together? Email your RA/GA, or our House Dean Viraj.

Questions? Email Andre, the GA for the East Asia Program Community.
