Harnwell Research Fellowship!

Do you have a question inside you? A question worth the effort of research and the rewards of discovery? Would one-on-one faculty mentoring and a $1500 stipend help you find more rewarding avenues of inquiry?

The Office of College Houses and Academic Services is now accepting proposals for 2019-20 College House Research Program Fellowships! We're accepting proposals relevant to any academic field; each House will select only one research fellow* to receive the $1500 award, which will be paid over the 18-month period of the Research Fellowship (January 2019 – May 2020).

Look for research-related workshops in the coming weeks, put together by your College House’s faculty and senior staff as well as the current student Research Fellows, who were chosen in last year’s competition.  These faculty, staff, and students are also available to meet with individual residents to answer questions about writing a research proposal, finding research resources, and identifying a faculty advisor for a student’s particular project interests.

Application Deadline

We recommend submissions by: December 20, 2018. Visit www.collegehouses.upenn.edu/research(link is external) and submit an application, which should include your project proposal, deadline for Harnwell is 01/17/2019 at 11:59PM. No extensions or exceptions. Winning proposals will be announced January 22.

Eligibility

All freshmen, sophomores, and juniors currently living in a College House are eligible. (Houses may have additional eligibility rules; check with your House for details.)  Research beginners are welcome to apply as long as they have an interesting idea and lots of enthusiasm. Each House will determine its own specific procedure for selecting its research fellow — a procedure that will be advertised in each House.
