Manager Positions
All student managerial positions are generally work-study jobs and must be filled by students who will be residents of Harnwell College House during the academic year. Managers report directly to the House Dean, and all positions require a work commitment of 10-15 hours per week. All manager will be required to participate in House-wide programs and to attend Manager Board meetings every other week in order to share ideas, work out problems, coordinate planning, and assess progress. Excellent academic credentials are mandatory for all positions and must be maintained throughout the year. This job must be the manager's highest non-academic priority. Managers hired in the Spring and will be required to attend a brief pre-training session with the person whom they will be replacing the following year (in a meeting, or series of meetings to be determined by the current manager, and arranged at a time mutually convenient to both). Failure to attend this pre- training session will result in termination of the position. Managers should plan on moving in a little earlier than other residents (around August 25; exact dates to be determined) and are expected to attend the campus-wide manager orientation at the end of August. Managers will be expected to help with move-in; the Manager Board will be particularly responsible for welcoming new students and coordinating activities for New Student Orientation. In addition, the Manager Board will take charge of the hiring of new managers for the subsequent year. Before their tenure ends, each manager must meet with his/her counterpart for next year as well as create or update a written reference guide for that successor. |
