Harnwell Sophomores eat for FREE

Addendum on Friday, Oct 9: Free Lunch also for Residents of Harnwell Floors 1, 6, 7, 8, 14, 16, 17 and any cluster of 4 people from one floor! 

Attention College House residents!  Do you want a gentle, green space to escape from campus for a few hours?   Did you know that Penn owns a sylvan haven that is easily accessible by SEPTA—the Morris Arboretum?  Did you know the entrance fee is FREE with your PennCard?

JOIN HARNWELL and several other College Houses for a daytime excursion to the Arboretum on Saturday, October 10^th.   Harnwell, Rodin, Stouffer, and King’s Court English House will all have entries in the annual Scarecrow Walk.  Come see the straw-stuffed creations while enjoying a beautiful and tranquil place to walk, sit, study a little, or just talk to your roommate.  The leaves are just starting to change color now, and the place provides as serene respite from the city and mid-terms!! Transportation by either PennBus or Septa will be available.  Students will have considerable schedule flexibility.  See the transportation options at the bottom,

Harnwell, Rodin, Dubois, Fisher-Hassenfeld, and Hill residents—one dollar, non-refundable fee to register to attend.  Harnwell and Rodin sophomores will have lunch for free but should try to register by Friday, October 9^th by noon to ensure enough food.  All other college house residents may also order lunch in advance for $5 by noon on Friday or may feel free to visit the on-site café to purchase food there.  Group lunch will be served at 1:00 pm.

All other college houses (Harrison, Ware, Riepe, Kings Court, Stouffer, and Gregory should present $10 in advance to attend—NOTE: only $5 will refunded if you do not attend).  Non-CHAS residents will be required to pay $15. This fee will cover round-trip transportation by bus or SEPTA.  We’ll ask you for your tentative plan, but you’ll be able to make a final decision about mode of transportation on the day of the excursion.  NOTE: everyone should be back to campus by 5:30 at the latest, in time for Fall Fest.

To register, please come to the Harnwell House Office, M-30 at 3820 Locust Walk between 9 am and 6 pm on weekdays with cash.  Sophomores from all houses will have priority to register between  9 am Monday, October 5^th and noon on Tuesday,  October 6^th.  Between noon, Tuesday, October 6^th and 5:30 pm Friday, October 9^th all other classes from all other college houses may register to attend.  Students expressing interest in attending on the day of the event are very welcome to come along, but priority seating on the bus will be given to those who have officially registered—the fee structure for the bus ride will remain the same according to House affiliation.  Last-minute  interested students may also take SEPTA along with groups led by GAs, but students will be responsible for acquiring SEPTA tickets at 30^th STATION. 

All Students should meet in the Harnwell lobby 20 minutes before campus bus departures and 45 minutes before SEPTA departures
